Parkers Maple Barn has been a family establishment since the late
1960`s. It began with nothing more than a small Sugar House by the
original Parker family and has grown to become a very popular country
restaurant serving hearty breakfasts and lunch. The Corn-Crib gift
shop features all of our maple products along with many unique gifts
like our maple syrup gift baskets and maple syrup tins. The Sugar
House still produces maple syrup following the old tradition of
wood-fired evaporators. |

The North Conway Model Railroad Club was formed in 1975 following
the creation of the Conway Scenic Railroad in North Conway. The
North Conway and Crawford Notch Railroad, occupies a portion of
the former Boston and Maine freight house on the Conway Scenic Railroad`s
property. The North Conway and Crawford Notch Railroad, part of
the Maine Central set in the late 1940 to early 1950, is a 500 sq.ft.
operating HO layout. It features replicas of the North Conway Station
and train yard, Crawford Notch area with large mountains and a large
seaport, running steam and diesel locomotives. |

The old Fire Station on the Milford oval is home to Ralph`s Service
Center. As it came to be in 1857, the town voted to build a fire
house on the site. As originally laid out the first floor housed
the engines (pulled by horses or men) and the second floor was the
meeting room. A 60 foot tower was built on the top of the building
for drying fire hose. This building served Milford until a new fire
station was built under the new library (town hall annex) in 1892.
Three generations of the Jacques family have since owned this building.
The building is now owned by Ralph Porter, Jr. who provides motor
vehicle maintenance and repair services, motor fuel and towing services
to all on `The Oval`. |

Bill Bowser founded Bowser Manufacturing in 1946 in Redlands, California.
Somewhere around 1955, Don Acheson acquired Bowser Manufacturing.
On May 1, 1961, Bowser was purchased by Lewis and Shirlee English
and moved from Redlands, CA to their basement in Muncy, PA. The
original Bowser Manufacturing Co first advertised in the model railroad
magazines in November 1948. At that time, the company had only one
engine, the Mountain, which had a cast brass boiler that is no longer
available. It was sometime later that Bowser (Redlands) developed
the NYC K-11 and the UP Challenger. The molds were made by K. Wenzlaff
who introduced himself at the MRIA Show in Pasadena, CA in 1985
These two locomotives are still current production. |
